About
Who We Are
Mission Statement
Fostering an active, thriving downtown through community-driven revitalization and preservation with engaged partners, committed volunteers, and our local community.
Vision Statement
To preserve and cultivate a flourishing downtown that enriches the business community, encourages tourism and local spending, and enhances our quality of life with a vibrant destination to gather, shop, work, and play.
The Ottawa Main Street Association is a 501(c)(6) organization located in Franklin County, Kansas. We are a growing group of dedicated volunteers who work alongside local businesses, nonprofits, and community members to create a thriving, downtown destination. We focus on community-driven revitalization and preservation of our core downtown business district, as a part of the National Main Street Program. This program grew out of the fundamental understanding that a community is only as strong as its core.
The National Main Street approach is centered around Transformation Strategies that articulate a focused, deliberate path to revitalizing or strengthening a downtown or commercial district's economy. Our Main Street program is organized around Four Points: Economic Vitality, Design, Promotion, and Organization. These Transformation Strategies are informed by a solid understanding of local and regional market data, as well as sustained and inclusive community engagement. You can learn more about these Four Points HERE.
